The architect Traugott von Saltzwedel came from a Prussian noble family and so he imagined something particularly representative in Düsseldorf for the seat of the Royal Prussian Government. He worked on the four-story building with its six wings for four years, from 1907 to 1911. A look inside is also well worthwhile: The staircase is modelled on a baroque staircase in Versailles, on which Louis XIV received foreign ambassadors. Today, the district government of Düsseldorf is housed there.
