When you think of Düsseldorf and shopping, first and foremost you might think of fashion. But even in the gastronomic field, the city is a shopping paradise, of which all visitors can convince themselves with a walk in the Carlsplatz.

In the central square south of the Altstadt (Old town) not only exotic fruits, regional vegetables, freshly caught fish, meat and poultry, bread and cheese are sold, but also delicatessen specialities, which fit into every suitcase and are therefore excellently suited as souvenirs: For example, teas and herbs from all over the world, spirits and mustard.

If you are hungry and walk through the passages, it won’t take long: In addition to Düsseldorf home cooking, there are Italian, Indian, French and Persian foods to be discovered. The market is open from Monday to Saturday.
